A Guide to Procurement event
21 Feb 2012
Dumfries and Galloway Council means business! That is the message the Local Authority is sending out to regionally based businesses and companies by signing up to the National Supplier Development Programme.
The national programme aims to assist businesses of all types to bid for and win public sector based contracts. Through dedicated seminars and training events businesses can gain the knowledge and skills to confidently bid to win Council contracts and improve their competitiveness.
A seminar targeted at Dumfries and Galloway businesses will take place at the Henry Duncan Building, Dumfries and Galloway College, on February 21.
Titled, 'A Guide to Procurement – A Regional and Scottish Perspective', there is no cost to attend – just a requirement to register with the Supplier Development Programme via their website; www.sdpscotland.co.uk and to contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The seminar is between 1.30pm and 4pm and is being hosted jointly between the Council and the South of Scotland Business Solutions initiative. The seminar will provide a comprehensive overview on the public sector market place and understanding key, contemporary procurement issues.
Chair of Planning, Housing and Environment Committee, Councillor Roger Grant said, "The Council is committed to supporting local companies through our Business Gateway contract and procurement strategy. The seminar is a chance for local businesses to find out how the Council's procurement service works and to encourage them to bid for Council contracts."
Ewan Green, Head of the Council's Economic Development Service said, "Through our approach in supporting the region's key economic sectors the Council is committed to supporting local companies. Signing up to the Supplier Development Programme is another contribution to the Council's work to engage with and support Dumfries and Galloway businesses."
The Council hopes that the Seminar is well attended, to enable future training events to be scheduled before the summer.
